When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it's cute. At twenty-seven...well, not so much.

It's just that my lofty dreams--making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily--have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I've decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I've settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.

That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town's new vet.

With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it's not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.

Like everyone else, I'm intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can't refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he'll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.

It's too bad I underestimated Adam's irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.

It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

Adorably, endearingly, funny
By Old Dave's Romance Revue
The Foxe & The Hound, bears little resemblance to the family movie that has a very similar sounding name except in one very important aspect. Both are stories that will no doubt especially endear themselves to the hearts of dog lovers the world over.

After falling in love with the tiny puppy she chose to name Mouse at the pound, and taking him home, Madeline quickly realizes that he's going to grow much larger than she'd been lead to believe, and that keeping him, and doing right by him is going to be a challenge.

Adam Foxe, who manages to have two encounters with Madeline and Mouse in the one day, first as Mouse's victim and only shortly thereafter as his vet, has a very different challenge on his hands. On the one hand, after the events that led him to abandon his home and practice in Chicago, he's got absolutely no interest in getting back into the dating scene anytime soon. On the other hand, he can't seem to stop thinking about the brunette who's in over her head with the big dog with a little name, nor can he seem to stop running into her. On the other hand, his endearingly interfering mother is insisting that he bring the girlfriend that he just made up on the spot to the family barbecue on the weekend.

Yes, that's three hands and that's just a tiny hint as to how muddled and confused this wonderful story can get.

The thing about wanting something and not wanting it at the same time is that it inevitably sends off mixed messages because they're not really mixed at all, just overlapping and contradictory, and R.S. Grey's adorably delightful romantic comedy is dominated by two characters who aren't entirely sure what they want or when they want it and time and again confuse not just each other, but even themselves about what's going on between them.

Even allowing for having to spend a few hours at work, I sprinted through this book in a matter of hours and, for the most part, had a smile on my face all the way through.

There were moments that were tense and moments that were contemplative, moments that were sad, and moments that were beautifully intimate, but for the most part, the most memorable parts, were just delightfully funny, so much so that on several occasions I felt compelled to read excerpts out to the wife to share the mirth.

So if you're in the need for a pick-me-up. Something to lighten your load and brighten your day (or night) I heartily recommend this book. It certainly brightened my day

Perfect beach read!!! Ememies, to friends to lovers wrapped all up into PERFECTION!
By Quinn Bowman
Looking for some summertime reading?! Look no further because RS Grey has your back, as per her usual! Gosh, I absolutely love EVERYTHING this lady writes, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. I didn't even look at the blurb so it didn't dawn on me until a couple chapters in that this book is about Madeline....as in Daisy's Madeline from Anything You Can Do! WHAT?!?! YES!!!!!!

I adored Madeline in Anything You Can Do and was begging for Rachel to write her story NOW! Girls, let me tell you, she did disappoint!!! As we already know, Madeline is a bit of a mess. Let's just say a dark cloud has been following her around for the last 5 years or so, raining on her everyday parade. Although she is a pretty upbeat individual, a person can only take so much.

"I didn't plan to be this dysfunctional at 27, but dysfunctionality has a way of creeping up on you. One second, you're 22, wrapping up your undergraduate degree from a top business school, and then suddenly, you're sitting alone in your car at 27, wondering how five years slipped through your fingers without so much as a blink."

Madeline hasn't found her niche in real estate quite yet, and if she doesn't sell a property pretty quick, her boss is cutting her lose. But it's not just her professional life that's been stagnant, Madeline hasn't been having much luck in the romance department either. Despite her best efforts I might add. So it's just her luck that her beast of a "puppy" just molested the only viable bachelor in the county.

"Today, I think I finally see why my mother adoringly refers to me as her 'lost cause'. "

Meet Adam Foxe....perfect name by the way, Rachel. Adam just moved to Texas from Chicago to be closer to his family, but we start to unveil the true motivation to leave Chicago was something much more personal. Despite his best efforts, he keeps running into the crazy, uncontrollable and sexy brunette and her spastic dog.

"She has an uncanny way of grating on my nerves, and the fact that she just keeps popping up is getting ridiculous."

So obviously, Adam isn't a fan of Madeline. In fact, the beginning of their relationship is pretty rocky. But this is a small town and two keep running into each other and spending more and more time together. Adam's very upfront about him not wanting to date anyone at this time, crushing Madeline's ego. Despite this, they continue to see each other as friends.

Adam and Madeline are very hot and cold throughout the first half of this book. Now, this might drive some people crazy, but I just couldn't wait to get to the bottom of it! I absolutely loved how Madeline's character is depicted as a complete mess despite that she has the best intentions and a kind heart. The girl has no luck whatsoever. Grey also write the best friendships, and Madeline and Daisy's friendship is fantastic!

There's so much in this book that I want to gush over, but don't want to spoil! I will say, once their romance started heating up, I found their relationship sexy but also incredibly sweet! I also love how Grey puts these little nuggets of information in her stories, always skimming below the surface, just to pop up at the perfect time to tie everything all together. Absolute perfection!

You guys have to pick this one up for the summer! It's perfect, fun, sexy, summertime read that will leave you laughing and smiling along!

4 - 4.5 Delightfully Sweet-&-Sexy Stars!!!

4 - 4.5 Stars!!

OMG!! Refreshing, smart, fun and swoony, I LOVED this book!! It was just what I needed. My favorite R.S. Grey book since 'Scoring Wilder'. If you are looking for something totally light and sexy, this book is for you!

Madeleine is an adorable and quirky heroine who is trying her best to get her life together. As a somewhat unsuccessful realtor, she adores her giant dog named Mouse (cute, right?) and loves her family and best friend Daisy. But her love life? Non-existent. DOA. That is, until the new veterinarian Dr. Adam Foxe arrives in town. But the good doctor is coming off a bitter break-up and is cynical and not looking for love, etc etc. Until Mouse (and Madeleine crash into his life!)

They strike up a mutually beneficial deal. A fake dating arrangement to satisfy Adam's nosy family and he will buy a house through Madeleine. Let the hilarity (and hormones) ensue!

"No. No. A family barbecue is serious! This was not part of the deal."

"Technically, you agreed to do anything I needed you to do."

"That's when I thought you'd be asking me for a lung or something!"

"So you were prepared to donate an organ, but a family barbecue is suddenly too much pressure?"

"Don't try to be cute."

Adam's family is charmed by Madeleine. And who wouldn't be? She is a sincere and honest and refreshingly REAL MC.

“And you brought cookies?” she asks, eyeing the Tupperware in my hand.

“Freshly baked this morning,” I brag.

She turns over her shoulder to Adam, who’s following us into the house with Mouse by his side. “I love her already!”

I bask in her praise. After the months from hell I’ve had recently, this is a much-needed reprieve. Hell, if all else fails, maybe I’ll date Adam’s mom?

'The Foxe & the Hound" is a delightfully sexy story with the perfect amount of humor and heat. I loved the banter, the characters and the charming small-town Texas setting. I swear, R.S. Grey could be a TV comedy writer, that's how funny her dialogue is!!

"I want to take a pair of scissors to her loud highlights, but I misplaced the scissors I usually keep in my top drawer a few months ago. Instead, I’m forced to stand, hang up on Daisy, and follow Lori over to the conference room with pen and paper in hand. We’re the first two to arrive. She takes her usual spot beside Helen’s chair, and I pick a spot on the opposite end of the table. Her perfume is strong. Chanel number five, she told me once, bragging. Oh really? On you it smells like a number two.

This was THE perfect read for a summer day or a weekend at the beach. I fell in love with Adam and Madeleine and the fictional setting of Hamilton, Texas. Bravo, Ms. Grey!! Keep writing more books like this one.

“We should slow down,” I sputter just before his mouth falls to my chest.

He swirls his tongue around my nipple and my eyes pinch closed. Or, y’know, speed up even more."
