The authors have enhanced previous editions by providing an additional chapter on logistic regression and screenshots using G*Power and SPSS software. Focusing on students who plan on doing research in education and the behavioral sciences, this new work offers a more complete conceptual approach, a better understanding of the subject, and a more user-friendly format than do most books in educational research and methodology. The book also includes advanced ANOVA, robust methods, and nonparametric procedures; however, there is very light coverage of probability. The authors address most major topics normally covered in a one- or two-semester statistics course; a basic knowledge of algebra is required. Even though this is an excellent reference for researchers in education and the behavioral sciences, it could easily be used as a textbook for any general statistics course. About the Author
Richard G. Lomax is a Professor in the School of Educational Policy and Leadership at The Ohio State University. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Research Methodology from the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on models of literacy acquisition, multivariate statistics, and assessment. He has twice served as a Fulbright Scholar and is a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association.
Debbie L. Hahs-Vaughn is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at the University of Central Florida. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Research from the University of Alabama. Her research focuses on methodological and substantive research using complex survey data, program evaluation, and practitioner use of research to inform their practice. Dr. Hahs-Vaughn was the recipient of the 2007 College of Education Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award, 2009 College of Education Distinguished Researcher Award, 2009 Teaching Incentive Program Award, and 2009 Research Incentive Award. She is currently the Executive Editor of the Measurement, Statistics, and Research Design section of the Journal of Experimental Education.

Great book BUT ONLY THE HARD COPY. Buy a hard copy!! The ebook/Kindle version is AWFUL.

The content is actually really good. Honestly, the authors did a good job breaking most concepts down to ensure understanding and application are not tedious for the student. HOWEVER, the Kindle or ebook version is the WORST I've ever had. I really wish I could get a refund and buy a hard copy. I am a Ph.D. student and I have NO hard copies of any textbooks from my Masters program or undergrad so I am both saddened and frustrated that this book is so sloppy electronically. The book displays location instead of page number and this make things difficult when trying to reference for homework or study notes. PLEASE fix this. I have to use this book TWO semesters!! Geez. I'd give the book a five if the Kindle version wasn't so bad!

clear instruction and easy to follow

This book provides clear instruction and is very easy to follow. As a graduate student in social science, I often find many stat books heavily loaded with formulas and are not accessible. After reading through this book, I understood the formulas and theories. The author did an excellent job in explaining stat concepts in an everyday language.
More importantly, the book is application-oriented. It provides practical examples in the text and exercise at the end of each chapter. I grasped the fundamentals quickly so that I could start running analysis required at work. Strong recommendations for people who are looking for a good and clear stat book to start with!
