Another Keeper of a Short Story

I had the privilege of reading CHRISTMAS ON HENDERSON'S RANCH on M.L. Buchman's website on the 14th of last month. For readers and fans who are unaware, I highly recommend subscribing to Buchman's newsletter, as subscribers are reminded about free short stories on his website during "Ides of Matt", the 14th of each calendar month.
I'm a huge The Night Stalkers series fan. I enjoyed this one, too, though it's far less about soldiers in a hot zone and far more about downtime, family, Christmas, and man-against-nature. Doug and Chelsea fall quick, hard and fast. It works, because of the characters' pasts, situations, and circumstances. Doug doesn't flinch away from the realization he's in love with Chelsea, and she doesn't, either. Chelsea's been all over the world, wandered through myriad cultures, languages, mountain peaks and valleys. "But she knew. Her wandering days were done." I found several sweet, tender bits of dialogue I absolutely had to highlight as I read. Kudos, again, to Buchman, for another keeper of a short story. THANK YOU!

Language: mild
Violence: a little, but very mild
Recommended to fans of The Night Stalkers Series and to fans of military romantic suspense who should keep in mind that this short is far more "off duty" than many of Buchman's books.
